KINDEE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Kindee Crossing Suspension Bridge was originally built in 1936 and is approaching 100 years, well past its original design life. PMHC continue to maintain the existing bridge to ensure a safe and reliable crossing of the Hasting River - however they needed plan more significant works.
A number of options were considered for the repair, rehabilitation, strengthening, renewal or replacement of the existing bridge. Due to the nature of the existing structure, strengthening or upgrading the existing bridge was not a viable option. Following Council analysis and community input, the decision was made to construct a new single-lane bridge immediately upstream, to utilise the majority of the existing road approaches.
