PROJECT PERIOD
2017-Present
PROJECT VALUE
$39M

The original 1920 bridge over Cedar Party Creek at Wingham had reached the end of its service life.

This project involved the replacement of the ageing bridge, supported by a grant from the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Bridges program. The new 117-metre concrete bridge stands 3.5 metres higher than its predecessor (meeting/surpassing the 100-year flood level), and provides 1% AEP flood immunity and a far more reliable connection between Wingham and Taree.

MLEI provided the following services:

  • Optioneering assessment
  • Strategic design
  • Site investigations
  • Detailed design
    • Bridge design
    • Road and civil design
    • Pavement design
    • Flooding and drainage
  • TfNSW construction specifications
  • Procurement and contract documentation
  • Client-side project/construction management
  • Site supervision & quality assurance
  • Commissioning and handover.

Delivered in close partnership with MidCoast Council and our delivery partners, the project required extensive coordination across multiple disciplines, including earthworks, roadworks, drainage and utilities. Throughout constructions, we provided a 400-metre detour to keep over 10,000 vehicles per day safely moving between Wingham and Taree.
